কাজী আবদুল বাসেত
Kazi Abdul Baset (1943–2012) was a dedicated printmaker, painter, and art educator who contributed significantly to the development of visual arts in Bangladesh. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, and later trained in printmaking techniques abroad.
His work in printmaking — lithography, screenprint, and etching — was characterised by strong compositional sense and a deep connection to Bangladeshi folk motifs and landscape. He was particularly interested in the interplay between line and texture, creating prints of remarkable visual complexity.
As a teacher at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, he influenced generations of students and played an important role in establishing printmaking as a respected discipline. His approach in the studio combined technical rigour with creative freedom.
Beyond printmaking, he produced paintings in oil and watercolour that showed a sensitive response to light and colour. He participated in numerous national and international exhibitions throughout his career.
